Pakistan’s security forces have arrested a suspected militant who has allegedly exposed links between outlawed groups and cross-border networks operating from Afghanistan.

The suspect, identified as Amir Sohail alias Maulvi Haider, claimed during interrogation that he was recruited into a militant outfit due to misleading propaganda against Pakistan. He admitted receiving training at a facility in Afghanistan’s Paktika province, where, according to his statement, militant centers operate with support from elements within the Afghan Taliban.

The detainee further alleged that these groups maintain connections with other international militant organizations such as ISIS and Al-Qaeda. He also claimed that financial assistance was provided through various foreign channels, including intelligence networks.

According to the statement, the militant was part of a group comprising more than 20 fighters, including Afghan nationals. He confessed to involvement in attacks targeting security forces in regions such as Bannu, Lakki Marwat, and Mianwali. Authorities reportedly apprehended him while he was traveling to Peshawar for medical treatment.

The suspect also distanced the group’s activities from religion, stating that their actions were driven by financial incentives rather than ideological or religious motives.

Security analysts say such confessions reinforce long-standing concerns regarding the presence of militant sanctuaries across the border and the existence of coordinated networks facilitating attacks داخل پاکستان۔ They emphasize that these revelations highlight the need for stronger regional cooperation and intelligence-sharing mechanisms to counter terrorism.

Officials have not independently verified all claims made by the suspect, but investigations are ongoing. Authorities maintain that such disclosures could help in dismantling networks involved in cross-border militancy and improving national security measures.
